About Brufen Plus

Brufen Plus Tablet is a combination painkiller. It is used for the relief of acute mild to moderate pain (such as backache and period pain) and inflammation when other more commonly used pain-relief medicines are not very effective. Each tablet of Brufen Plus contains two active ingredients: Ibuprofen and Codeine.

How effective is Brufen Plus?

Brufen Plus Tablet is a very effective analgesic and anti-inflammatory drug. Its use is intended in various types of pains and aches, including period pain, musculoskeletal tendonitis, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine, sprains, backache, and neuralgia.

The active ingredient ibuprofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent that works by inhibiting certain chemical substances which cause pain and inflammation. Codeine is an opioid analgesic and works by binding certain receptors in the brain to cause pain relief.

What dose should I choose?

In adults, the usual dose is 1-2 tablets taken orally thrice per day or as recommended by your doctor. The dose should be taken with or after a meal. Do not exceed the limit of 6 tablets in a 24-hour period.

Brufen Plus Tablet is not recommended for use in children below the age of 12 years.

If you skip a dose by any chance, take it as soon as you remember. Skip the already missed dose if it’s almost time for the next one. Do not double the dose.

What are the side-effects and other warnings when taking Brufen Plus?

Some common side-effects when taking Brufen Plus include:

• Diarrhoea
• Headache
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Sleepiness
• Indigestion

If you experience any side-effects that persist or worsen or any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor immediately.

Notify your doctor about any prescription/non-prescription drugs you may be taking.

If you are pregnant, might become pregnant, or think you may be pregnant or breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed, notify your doctor or a pharmacist before using this drug.
